Giving
Worktank actively supports several charities around the Puget Sound area. We also encourage our employees to give back in their own way by providing the flexibility they need to support the causes closest to them.
How We Give
-
Rotary First Harvest
Since the charity's founding in 1982, Rotary First Harvest (RFH), a program of Rotary District 5030, has collected and distributed more than 135 million pounds of produce. RFH acts as a conduit between farmers and the programs that serve hungry individuals and families in our region. Farmers are occasionally left with surplus fruits and vegetables that can't be sold due to minor imperfections (such as carrots with two legs or apples that are the wrong size or color), or might not be harvested because of a glut on the market. Traditionally, this nutritious produce would be sent to a landfill or left to rot in the fields. Instead, RFH directs it to those in need.

Friends of the Cedar River Watershed
We love salmon and we love to know that there will be wild salmon and clean rivers and streams for generations to come. That's why we made sure to sponsor a hand-planed and -painted salmon by Deborah McCarroll for the Cedar Salmon Art Exhibit and Online Auction. All proceeds from the auction raised money for the Friends of the Cedar River Watershed's salmon education program and restoration projects.

Adopt a Family for the Holidays
Many families are without the means to celebrate during the holiday season, so every year, Worktank adopts one or more families who are without gifts or even the necessary staples for living. We shop for items on their wish lists and end up with mounds of presents to wrap and deliver, helping to make the holidays just a bit more special for at least one needy family.

FareStart
FareStart is a culinary job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. Over the past 17 years, FareStart has provided opportunities for over 3,000 people to transform their lives, while also serving over 3.5 million meals to disadvantaged men, women, and children. Worktank staffers have donated time to FareStart's Guest Chef Night, putting aside their normal job duties to serve food to paying diners, all in the name of giving back to the community.
